Built in stages from an earlier compact core into a larger saltbox-like form; associated with jurist and politician Zephaniah Swift.

Additional context

Zephaniah Swift practiced law in Windham, served two terms in the U.S. House, became chief justice of Connecticut, and authored influential early American legal works including A System of the Laws of the State of Connecticut.
