Windham Center Frogs

Windham Center

historic folklore

From the WPI tour

The famous Windham frog story became part of the town’s identity. This is a story stop rather than a precise surviving address.

Additional context

Windham’s famous Frog Fight grew from a frightening night in the 1750s when townspeople heard an extraordinary chorus near a drought-stricken pond. The story became enduring local folklore and eventually inspired Willimantic’s giant frog sculptures.
