The Windham Inn

4 Scotland Road

c. 1783

From the WPI tour

A Flemish-bond brick landmark that was once taller; structural problems in the 1800s led to its present two-and-a-half-story form.

Additional context

Built in 1783, the Windham Inn was originally known as the Windham House. A later structural change reduced it from three stories to two, and the building became a long-lived landmark at the Scotland Road intersection.
